About Me
Katherine Washington, PhD
I have been licensed as a Psychologist (LP 3957) in the state of Colorado since 2014. For the last ten years, I have also worked in a local hospital. In this setting, I provide individual, family, and group therapy. Additionally, my primary role at the hospital is to conduct psychological evaluations for learning and diagnostic clarification. I also supervise our predoctoral residents in providing clinical work and assessment.
Personally, I grew up in Colorado and love everything about this state. I went to undergraduate school at Colorado State University (Go Rammies!) and then graduated from The California School of Professional Psychology in San Diego. I did my predoctoral and postdoctoral training in Topeka, Kansas at Family Service and Guidance Center, a community mental health facility. I moved back to Colorado after living in Kansas as I missed the mountains and my family. I have two children, one who has dyslexia, and one giant Great Dane who is too big and fun.
Over the last several years, I have noticed, now more than ever, the need to ensure that children are given appropriate accommodations for learning and with their education. Too often I have seen children get passed through the public school system without getting the assistance they need to thrive. I have also seen many children who were very smart, get bored with their education and then start to decline in their performance as they reach their teenage years. I decided to do these evaluations to ensure that families are given the information they need to advocate appropriately for their child in the academic setting.
